Background

This year marks the 17th season for St. Louis Park Lacrosse Association, and 12th for our girls' program. We were formed to support the development of lacrosse skills for the kids living in or attending school in the City of St Louis Park.  We also welcome those from surrounding communities to join.

In 2024, the association will field girls' teams playing at the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U levels in the Great Northern Lacrosse League (GNLL).

The youth association has developed a strong connection to SLP girls' middle school and high school lacrosse teams.  For 2024 season, the SLP girls varsity head coach, assistant coach and 10+ high school players and alumni will be involved in the youth program as either coaches or organizers. Check out the Meet The Coaches section of our website for more information on our incredible coaching staff for 2024 season. There will also be several fun events throughout the season with the high school team.

Info about practices, games & tournaments

Each team will have scheduled practices, games and chance to participate in 1-3 tournaments throughout the season. All home games are played at St. Louis Park Middle School fields or St. Louis Park High School Turf field and away games and tournaments are mostly in the nearby metro area. Frequency of practice and games is dependent on age level and we do our best to keep schedule consistent.

Games will be mostly on the weekends in the spring (April-May) and on weekdays in the summer (June-July).

If you are looking for 14U Spring Girls Lacrosse (7th & 8th grade), please refer to SLP Middle School athletics website.

Oriole Stadium (SLP High School Turf)

Certain events and games will be hosted at Oriole Stadium SLP High School turf field in 2024.

Program Costs

One of our main objectives is to keep the cost of playing lacrosse low and the sport accessible. Each year, we do research to compare various athletic programs in the area make sure lacrosse is one of the most affordable offerings.  We also strive to be transparent and upfront about all costs involved throughout the season and at each age level so families can make an informed decision before registering. Please see detailed table below as well as explanation of all costs.

Explanation of Costs

Registration Fees (varied by age see above chart) - This covers the cost of the coaches, fields, equipment, uniforms, referees, league & tournament fees, marketing and other general administrative expenses associated with running the organization.

USA Lacrosse Membership ($35) - All players are required to join USA Lacrosse before registering with St. Louis Park Lacrosse Association. There is a $35 annual fee that covers insurance and administrative expenses required to operate the national governing body of the sport.

Fundraising ($140 fee only for families that don't complete fundraising) - In an effort to keep the sport affordable for all players—while avoiding concession sales and mandatory parent volunteering—players are required to participate in an annual fundraiser for the association which kicks off in May. Each player is responsible for selling 7 x $20 coupon cards ($140) during the season. New this year we are planning to complete the main fundraising as a team event.

Uniforms ($0) - The association owns all girls uniforms, and distributes them free of charge. Girls' uniforms consist of a black lacrosse skirt or shorts and a reversible jersey. Players are required to return their uniforms at the end of the season.

Equipment ($0) - girls' lacrosse equipment (stick, goggles, goalie gear) is available for use duration of season free of charge and needs to be returned at end of season.

Shooting Shirt (FREE if registered by March 10th) - a popular clothing item for lacrosse is shooting shirts, which can be worn during warmups, practice or as casual clothing item outside of lacrosse.  The shooting shirts are a lightweight polyester material, long sleeve and loose fitting, designed by a local vendor especially for SLP Lacrosse.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Lacrosse can have an incredibly positive impact on the lives of young athletes. We want the ability to share that experience with as many individuals as possible in our community.  Scholarships are available upon request, and in a variety of formats.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to learn more if you are undecided about registering due to costs or have additional questions or concerns.  Know that we are flexible in making accommodations because we'd love to see your daughter on the field in 2024!
